Robert Radi Featured in the Book ‘Young Designers: Americas’

    Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

The recently released volume features 61 of the most innovative industrial, furniture, and product designers in the Western Hemisphere. Edited by Carissa Kowalski Dougherty and published by daab, this 400-page, full-color publication is now available worldwide.

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) July 12, 2006 — The creativity and design of Robert Radi, an award-winning designer based in Beverly Hills, California, has been recognized in a new editorial project by Fusion Publishing (Los Angeles – Stuttgart). The beautifully executed book celebrates the inspired work of 61 pioneering designers who represent the new American generation.

In her introduction, Carissa Kowalski Dougherty explains that designers in The Americas — including North, South and Central America — are as diverse as the cultures within which they work.

“It is difficult to talk about them as one cohesive group; their passions, design strategies, and formal outcomes cannot be summed up in a simple mission statement, nor should they be,” says Dougherty. “The lack of a single, hegemonic style does not mean designers in The Americas are afraid to commit to an aesthetic ideal. Instead, it signifies a dedication to the nature of design and the restlessness of human creativity.”

Radi is featured in an eight-page spread with some of his most successful designs-including Personal Microdermabrasion and Consumer Electronics projects — that have collectively generated more than $100 million in sales. The products highlighted demonstrate Radi’s attention to detail, his unique sense of styling, and his ability to come up with humorous, original concepts for household products.

Radi grew up in Northern Italy, borne into a rich tradition of design and invention within his family lineage. He moved to the United States some 15 years ago and has gone on to achieve considerable acclaim, winning in excess of a dozen design awards in the last four years alone.

Radi has designed products for mass and limited production for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Disney, DermaNew, Paramount, Mattel, Revlon, Colgate, Toyota, Neutrogena, Avery Dennison, Aroma Houseware, and Berkshire Hathaway (GINSU Brand) — to name a few.

In 2005, Robert Radi launched his Limited Edition Eyewear line. He is currently working with several of his high-profile clients on products that will be released in 2007.

Robert Radi Nominated for the DesignPreis 2006

    Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

The German Ministry of Economics Nominates Robert Radi for the DesignPreis 2006

In a truly unexpected letter, designer Robert Radi has been notified by Andrej Kupetz, managing director of the German Design Council, of having received the Nomination for the DesignPreis 2006, the only official Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Mr. Radi was nominated for his excellence in product design for the Razorback “F” – Active Eyewear Goggle.

The DesignPreis 2006 of the Federal Republic of Germany is sponsored by the Federal Minister for Economics and Labor and organized by the German Design Council.

It is not possible to submit an entry for the Design Award. Instead, products must be nominated either by the ministers of economics of the individual German states or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor.

Moreover, the product must have already won a national or international award. Thus, the Design Award is the Prize of Prizes.

Robert Radi was awarded the Good Design Award 2004 for the Razorback “F” – Active Eyewear Goggle.

The Nomination is a distinction in itself and gives the honor and privilege to use the “DesignPreis 2006 Nominee” logo on the product and strategic communication of the designer and Manufacturer.

The DesignPreis 2006 will be presented in February during the Ambiente International Consumer Goods Show in Frankfurt, Germany.

Designer Robert Radi Honored With the 2005 GOOD DESIGN AWARD

    Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design honors Robert Radi, for the fashionable Radi “K” Hybrid – Active Eyewear. This is the tenth Good Design Award received by Robert Radi in his design career.

Beverly Hills (PRWEB) December 14, 2005 — With an official letter, Mr. Christian K. Narkiewicz – Laine, Director and President of the CHICAGO ATHENAEUM notified Beverly Hills-based designer Robert Radi of this newly bestowed honor: The Good Design Award 2005.

This year Robert Radi was bestowed the 10th Good Design Award of his career for the Radi “K” Hybrid a fashionable and high performance sport sunglass. The Radi “K” Hybrid was designed to allow for adaptation to the various needs of today’s outdoor and action sports enthusiasts.
The key to the effectiveness of the Radi “K” Hybrid is the patented “Razorline” anti-fog/anti-dust venting technology that allows for a constant, controllable flow of air through the eyewear by creating a “chimney effect” (cool air is heated in the cheek area of the eyewear which causes it to rise), while also providing filtration for the flow of air due to the unique electrostatic properties of the eyecups. This affords the eyes of the wearer the most comfortable condition “behind the lens,” which translates into the maximal potential for long-term comfortable wear. This, in turn, provides the wearer with the maximal potential for eye protection he/she demands from a high performance eye-wear product.

The GOOD DESIGN, which was founded in 1950 by the Museum, is the oldest and most important international design competition, recognizing designers and manufacturers for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered standard product and consumer design into new and innovative product concepts.

Robert Radi expresses once again his utmost and sincere appreciation to the Jurors and promises to keep expressing excellence through his unique design approach and styling vision.

As every year the Museum received several hundreds of submissions from 40 countries contributing to the international importance of the historic Good Design Award and Exhibition. The Jury selected nearly 150 products, representing 18 product categories, worthy of the Good Design Award.

In 2006 the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design will be formalizing an event around this latest edition of the Good Design Award.
